The IIBL welcomes its newest owner, Dick Unruh. Dick assumes the helm of the San Diego Assassins and has renamed the squad the Yankton Praire Rattlers (YPR).
He has been a member of another Diamond Mind league for the last seven years — with two championships and five playoff appearances to his credit — and has played simulation baseball for 40 years, even longer if he counts his time with the old APBA board games. He resides in Yankton, South Dakota. He is moving the Rattlers from Yankee Stadium to Target Field. He claims it is to emphasize pitching rather than shopping.
Dick also enjoys playing via NetPlay.
Dick says, “Greetings to one and all from your newest owner. The Yankton Prairie Rattlers (formerly San Diego Assassins) are open for business. This looks like an exciting league and I am very pleased to be a part of it. It is my intent to be an active participant and a worthy opponent.
“The 2011 MLB season will mark my 57th season as an Oakland A’s fan (my wife would say fanatic!). Happy New Year to all.”
