Game 1 - Madiba at Rosehaven Randy Johnson (21-7) vs Tomo Ohka (10-7) Geoff Blum singled and Brian Giles homered with two outs in the eighth as Madiba downed Rosehaven behind the 14 strikeout pitching of Randy Johnson. Rosehaven loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth, but Darren Holmes came on and got Derek Jeter to fly out to right, and also pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for the save. Rosehaven left 12 on base.

Game 2 - Madiba at Rosehaven Mike Piazza led off the home third with a home run to break a 1-1 tie, and the Rosehaven offense erupted for 5 runs en route to a 7-3 triumph. An Al Leiter error with two outs in the inning prolonged the inning, making the last two runs unearned.

Game 3 - Rosehaven at Madiba Madiba hit three solo homers off Rick Reed and Jay Gibbons greeted Vladimir Nunez with a three run shot as Madiba coasted 9-1. Jon Lieber homered and threw eight shutout innings.

Game 4 - Rosehaven at Madiba Sammy Sosa was walked intentionally with a runner on second and one out in the 1st and Rafael Palmiero followed with a three run homer. Piazza also homered in the first, and it was 5-0. Palmiero was walked in the 5th and Scott Rolen followed with an RBI single. Rosehaven evened the series at 2 games apiece.

Game 5 - Rosehaven at Madiba Randy Johnson threw 146 pitches before giving way in the 9th inning with a 5-4 lead. Scott Rolen's two out single in the ninth drove home Derek Jeter to send the game into extra innings, where Brian Jordan's two run homer won it. Jorge Posada homered twice, including a solo shot in the 12th to narrow the final margin to 1.

Game 6 - Madiba at Rosehaven Hideo Nomo was fairly awful, allowing runs in four of the five innings in which he worked. Still, thanks to Sammy Sosa's two run homer, Rosehaven trailed by only 5-3 after 5. Chris Gomez and Mark Ellis, at the bottom of the United order, hit back to back doubles for a 6th run and it turned out to be the one that was needed. Scott Rolen singled in a run to cut it to 6-4 in the 7th, and Raffy Palmiero homered in the eighth, but Darren Holmes pitched a hitless 9th for the save, tying the series at 3 games each.

Game 7 - Madiba at Rosehaven Jon Lieber was the hot hand and the MVP for United, getting his second win of the series. Jorge Posada started the scoring with a 2RHR in the first, and Carlos Delgado and Geoff Blum homered in the fourth and sixth respectively. Posada's homer was all that Lieber needed, as only Jim Edmonds was able to connect for Rosehaven. Lieber was able to coax 15 ground ball outs in the his eight innings of work.

Game 1 - Portland at Carolina Matt Morris (14-6) vs Mark Buehrle (18-6) Bret Boone homered with one on the 5th to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead and Portland's middle relief faltered. By the time the 6th was done it was 10-2 and it was a rout..

Game 2 - Portland at Carolina Carolina stitched together four runs in the 3rd inning on a wild pitch, sac fly and intentional walk, and were never seriously threatened. Moyer got Burkett with two on to stifle a rally in the 5th and got Stynes in the same situation an inning later.

Game 3 - Carolina at Portland Omar Daal walked 6 in 4.1 innings but got the key outs when needed. Jeff Nelson came in with the bases loaded in the 5th and got Mark Loretta and Tony Graffanino to retire the side. Carolina didn't get a runner past first after that as Portland eked out a 1-0 win that cut the margin to 2 games to 1.

Game 4 - Carolina at Portland David Wells allowed three hits in a complete game shutout, putting the Hurricanes within one game of advancing. Tony Graffanino had three hits including a home run for the winners. Aramis Ramirez' three run homer to cap the 3rd inning was the big hit.

Game 5 - Carolina at Portland Lance Berkman led off the fourth and sixth inning with a walk and a steal, and scored the tying and goahead runs. Whatever drama the game had had was quickly dispelled in the 6th by Jeff Nelson, who allowed 2 walks, two singles, and a 3 run homer by Paul Konerko.
