Game 1 - Scottsdale at Bocomo Braden Looper (10-15) vs Jake Peavy (22-4) A mismatch on paper, but the Cougars solved Jake Peavy for a Garrett Anderson 2RHR in the first and RBI doubles by Chone Figgins and Joe Mauer in the 5th. In that 5th inning, there was a key error by replacement shortstop Ronny Cedeno that paved the way for the 3 run inning. However, what Ronny gave, Ronny took back, slamming a 3RHR in the bottom of the 6th to restore a 6-4 Bocomo lead. Scottsdale had their chances in the late innings, getting two on in the 7th, three base runners in the 8th - and one run, and getting the bases loaded with one out in the 9th. Closer David Weathers then got Anderson and Frank Thomas on two groundouts stranding three as Bocomo drew first blood.

Game 4 - Bocomo
at Scottsdale The premier matchup. Scottsdale ace C.C. Sabathia was held out until game four as he had to pitch the final play-in game against Camano Island. Facing him, Roger Clemens, 2nd on the all time win list. Neither pitched all that well. Magglio Ordonez' 2RHR in the 5th put Bocomo ahead 5-4. The Bocomo bullpen came into the game in the 7th, looking for 7 outs to preserve Roger's 8th post-season win. They managed 6. Mark Grudzielanek singled of Otsuka to lead off the bottom of the ninth, and was bunted to second. Figgins struck out, putting Bocomo one out away from the sweep, but Mauer came up with the big hit. Game 5 - Bocomo
at Scottsdale More true to form than game one, Peavy, though not sharp, kept the Cougars at bay, while the Blues offense pounded Looper for 7 runs and 9 hits in just over 4 innings. Magglio Ordonez had a 2RHR in the first, and Cecil Fielder and Aramis Ramirez homered in the third. The 10-7 score was a lot closer than it looked as Scottsdale had scored four for cosmetics in the final frame.
123 456 789 R H E MVP - Magglio Ordonez: 13-22 with 9 RBI, clearly. There were good performances up and down the Bocomo linuep, as they hit .333 and slugged .529. hitting 9 HR in the 5 game series... Joe Mauer almost matched Ordonez for the Cougars, hitting .421/.478/.895 in the series with 8 RBIs...
